Yes, yes, I'm obsessed

First it was pink, and long. Then it was pink and short -- I earned it for doing The 23 Things. I was so proud. Then there was the sea blue one. But that wasn't mine, really -- I bought it for students to use. Then came the sweet emerald green, in honor of Mother's Day. It was mine, and mine alone. I cherished it. Any time you saw me, it was there, put to good use. But then the new models came out . . . and I was drooling. If only . . .

But no. That would be ridiculous.

Just writing away!

Happy New Year!

So I thought I'd be at least halfway through with my novel by this point . . . ha! What was I thinking? I've restarted that thing three times, halted the writing because I realized what I didn't know, so I hit the books again, and I've changed the age of the main character with every rewrite (it seems I always wrote her in an older voice than what she was on the page). Everything is a-go now, but I'm only on chapter 13.

And oh, yeah. . . there was a little thing called a wedding that my husband and I gave for our daughter.

But, back to now. And my former expectations. Like I said -- what was I thinking, halfway through by December? That would be something around chapter 22.

So, as for my New Year's Resolution, it would be to get back to my former rigorous discipline of getting up at 4 a.m. and writing for an hour daily. And because I know myself and my revisionist ways, I'm not making a commitment to finish the novel by any particular month.

But May is always a great month for finishing things, isn't it?

Read any good books lately?

I have. Or listened, as it were. Audiobooks are kind of my thing these days, what with all the running around, going here and there in heavy city traffic -- why not have a good read going in the car? It also helps with those awfully boring household chores. Just plug the Ipod earphones in, gear up the latest in audiobooks, and that pile of dirty dishes isn't so insurmountable. My latest audiobook love was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society -- such a great read! I hated that it was over. I heartily recommend it!
