So I was standing by the bus today, making sure kids boarded safely as school dismissed, and a child presses something small and hard in my hand. Two seconds later I hear, "Jamal's tooth came out!"
My hand flew open.
It was a rock.
Thank goodness.
Every day is a new adventure.

Rejoicing
Because we just participated in our daughter's wedding a few weeks ago, the scripture I read this morning was especially poignant to me:
Isaiah 61:10 "I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."
After that day, the day of Katy's wedding, I've come to believe that there is not another time in life when a woman looks so lovely. I couldn't take my eyes off Katy -- and neither could her husband, at the alter. I'm so glad I got a front row seat to the view of his awe. Austin was absolutely spellbound at the sight of his bride.
Is this splendor the way that God has adorned us? I think so, in a comparative way. The way that a bride readies herself for her wedding, the way a bridegroom readies himself for his bride, the way they never have or will again look so radiant, this is what we can relate to when we think about being clothed with the garments of salvation, the robes of righteousness.
What a loving God.
